Carnival Cruise Line’s Carnival Paradise returned back to her homeport of Tampa, this morning, after a month-long dry-dock in the Grand Bahama Shipyard. Some of the enhancements include added cabins, new balconies, new food venues, a new water-park, a new miniature golf course, and a new kids-zone.
The added cabins include two new Grand Vista suites that boast floor-to-ceiling windows, 22 junior suites, two ocean-view rooms, and 12 interior cabins. Along with the new rooms, Carnival added balconies to 98 existing cabins. Also, all cabins have been redecorated with island-inspired decor with bright colors.
New restaurants include Guy’s Burger Joint (in partnership with the Food Network’s Guy Fieri), and the BlueIguana Cantina, which offers freshly made burritos and tacos. New pool-side bars include the RedFrog Rum Bar, ThirstyFrog Red, and the BlueIguana Tequilla Bar.
The brand new WaterWorks Aqua Park includes a 300 foot long Twister water slide, two 82 foot long racing slides, and a kids splash zone.
Also for the kids, Carnival has added Camp Ocean, a marine-inspired play area for children ages two to eleven. The camp teaches kids the wonders of the sea through over 200 ocean-themed activities. For older kids, Circle C features video games, dance parties, and more for passengers ages twelve to fourteen.
Shops on-board were also redone with the addition of a Pandora store, Guess store, and The Cherry on Top candy store. The photo gallery was also completely redone and replaced with a digital Pixels-branded platform that allows passengers to identify and purchase images via their smartphones, or at a nearby kiosk.
The Carnival Paradise was scheduled to depart Monday on a five-day Caribbean cruise to Cozumel and Grand Cayman. However, the ship’s departure was delayed due to loading of supplies and passengers (thank you to Carnival lover Michael Poole for this information). Paradise sails year-round from Tampa to Cozumel (4 day cruises), and to Cozumel and Mahogany Bay (Roatán), Key West or Grand Cayman (5 day cruises). Paradise also offers 4 to 8 night cruises to Cuba with day-long and overnight calls in Havana, and other Caribbean ports.
