Flights

We ended up deciding that it would be better for us if we flew into Tampa again rather than driving. Our departing flight is Friday, April 7, at 6:35 PM out of Richmond International Airport (RIC) to Clearwater International Airport (PIE) on Allegiant Airlines flight 849. We flew Allegiant Airlines last year when we cruised on-board the Brilliance of the Seas. The departing flight was ok, but the returning flight was very turbulent.

This year, our returning flight is on Delta Airlines, since Allegiant only flies select days out of the week, and Sunday isn’t one of them. The flight is out of Tampa International Airport (TPA) on Sunday, April 16, at 11:45 AM on flight 1891 in first class. It stops in Altanta, and we have a 2 hour and seventeen minute layover until our next flight, Delta flight 1307 to RIC, that leaves at 3:45.

Hotel Reservation

Since we are flying in two days before out cruise, we need a place to stay. We booked a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom bay view suite at Sail Port Waterfront Suites. It’s right next to port Tampa; however, we won’t be able to see the ship from our hotel. We decided that it would be more logical to take an Uber wherever we need to go so that we don’t have to pay for renting a car or for cruise terminal parking. We are thinking of checking out at around 9 AM and arriving at the port between 9:15 and 9:30.

Excursions

On cruise day 2, when we are in Cozumel, Mexico, we are going to Nachi Cocom Beach Club. We went there last year when we were on the Brilliance of the Seas. We really liked it. We get waited on by one person the whole day. They have a menu full of great things like cheeseburgers, nachos, mozzarella sticks, hot dogs, strawberry and banana daiquiris, etc. They also have free WiFi, which means I will be posting a lot of pictures on Instagram (@cruiseveryday)!

On cruise day 3, When we are in Costa Maya, Mexico, we will be going to Maya Chan Beach. It’s all inclusive like Nachi Cocom in Cozumel. It includes transportation to the beach, free WiFi, food, lockers, floating chairs, use of professional snorkeling equipment, private cabanas, “guaranteed beach bed,” and a “Guaranteed Over-Sized Beach Chair.” This one might be one of my favorites. I am most excited for the snorkeling equipment, our private cabana, and just relaxing in general.

On cruise day 4, when we are in Roatan, Honduras, we are going to take a “Best of Roatan” private tour. We get a personal driver, who will take us wherever we would like. One place that we have already requested to go to is the Mayan Jungle Canopy, where they will have lots of animals including monkeys! There will also be plenty of amazing picture taking opportunities!

Preparation

If you have read my Brilliance of the Seas cruise blog, then you know that the 4 of us wore white shirts last year that said “Our-last-name Family Cruise 2016” with the Royal Caribbean logo. This year instead of white shirts, we will be wearing sapphire blue shirts (kind of NCL’s color) with white iron-on letters with the logo. After I finish making our shirts, and when it gets a little bit closer to our cruise, then I will post another check-in with pictures of our shirts.

I am also working on designing some Cruise Everyday t-shirts for the 4 of us. Instead of making these, I am probably going to order them from a shirt maker like Custom Ink. I will also update you on this at a later date.

Gear

Since the last time that I wrote the first pre-cruise blog, I bought a Canon T3 and  Canon T3i. They both came with 18-55MM lenses, but I did end up buying more. Here is a list of all of the lenses that I hope to use on our up-coming cruise: 18-55MM lens X2, 55-250MM telephoto zoom lens, 50MM macro lens, and a 10-18MM wide angle lens. I also bought the TAKSTAR SGC-598 external microphone for videos. It works really well and is way better than the on-board mic. All of these items are linked to where you can buy them if you would like. You can see all of the pictures I take here on cruiseveryday.com, and on Instagram (@cruiseveryday)!
