On Wednesday, Carnival Cruise Line officially accepted delivery of their 26th ship, the Carnival Horizon, at Fincantieri’s Monfalcone shipyard in Italy.
Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line, made a statement saying, “Carnival Horizon is an absolutely stunning ship offering so many ways to ‘Choose Fun’ both inside and out. In addition to the many exciting innovations previously introduced on Carnival Vista, Carnival Horizon offers some new one-of-a-kind features and attractions that make this ship truly special allowing our guests to create a lifetime of wonderful vacation memories.”
Many high-ranking Carnival executives attended the ceremony including Micky Arison, chairman of Carnival Corporation; Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line; and Giampiero Massolo, chairman and Giuseppe Bono, CEO, of Fincantieri.
Horizon will introduce a lot of new and exciting thing for Carnival. Some of these new things include Guy’s Pig & Anchor Smokehouse Brewhouse, a Teppanyaki restaurant, and Bonsai Sushi. Horizon will also offer many of the same things that passengers have seen before, such as Guy’s Burger Joint and the BlueIguana Cantina and Tequila Bar, as well as Vista-class specialties including the SkyRide, an IMAX theater, a multi-slide waterpark and specialty cabins including Havana Cabana and Family Harbor rooms.
On March 31, the Carnival Horizon will set sail on a 14 night transatlantic crossing to New York, where she will sail four-night Bermuda cruises, and eight-night Caribbean cruises. Starting in September of 2018, she will reposition to Miami to sail year-round Caribbean cruises.
