Day 4- Cozumel
I ended up waking u at 5:50. I went through the same routine as the mornings before. I got up and went to the covered pool deck to have coffee and a doughnut. I could see a coastline with some lights, but I didn’t know what country it was. So, I looked at Google Maps to see where we were. It said it was the coast of Cuba. We were going pretty slow, and I was wondering if maybe we were picking up refugees, since they had picked some up on the cruise before ours. It turns out, we were just going slow because we were approaching Cozumel. Below is a picture I took of what I saw.
I sat on the pool deck until seven, when the Windjammer opened. For breakfast I had steak, potato wedges, and a hash brown. I was sitting at the open aft part of the Windjammer, while we pulled into Cozumel. It was really pretty. We were joined by the Independence of the Seas. I got a really good shot of it as it pulled in behind us.
After watching us dock, I went back to the room to shower and get ready.
Once everyone was ready, we went down to Deck 2 and got off the ship. When you get off, they do the thing where they take your picture in front of a set. See below.
We also did some of our own picture taking of the two ships. See below.
After pictures, they searched our bags for food. Then we had to find a taxi to the beach. There were signs pointing toward taxis. We had to push our way through masses of people in some mall to get to them. Since someone in our party was in a wheel chair, my dad undid a stanchion. A police officer got really upset and almost arrested him. After it was pointed out that he was doing it to get to the ramp, they loaded us in a really small taxi, and we headed to our excursion. We had booked an excursion to Nachi Cocom Beach. It costs $100 per person. The price includes food, drinks, wifi (you have to ask your server for the password), and pool access.
Once we got there, they took our picture to try and get us to buy it. See below.
After our picture, we headed to the beach and got our seats. Our server, named Carlos, immediately got us menus so we could order food. I ordered a strawberry daiquiri, a cheeseburger with fries, chicken fingers, and mozzarella sticks. The food was soooo good. If you go to Nachi Cocom, I highly recommend getting the mozzarella sticks and chicken fingers. They are the best.
There was a guy on the beach who was selling things like parasailing, massages, jet skis, and boats. My dad and I bought massages for $40 each. It was really relaxing.
After our massages, we went back to our seats and relaxed for a couple of hours.
About 57 strawberry daiquiris later, the guy who was selling things came back around. This time we bought parasailing. I had never done it before, and I was really nervous. We got on a boat with two other men and headed out to the middle of the water. We went first. Once I was up in the air, it was completely relaxing and fun.
When we got back to the beach, it was time to head back to the ship. They gave us the picture we bought for $12, and they called a taxi for us. We shoved in an even smaller taxi and headed back to the ship.
After we got back on the ship, we headed to the Windjammer. I don’t remember what we ate, but it was dinner. I then went to go watch us leave Cozumel. It was really neat.
After that we went to bed.
